Our Coaches
Rolling for Hope is led by two experienced black belt instructors who bring both skill and heart to the mat. In addition to their roles with our nonprofit, they coach at Checkmat Daphne, a respected Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy on the Eastern Shore. With a passion for mentorship and youth development, our coaches create a supportive, disciplined environment where every student is encouraged to grow—on and off the mat.

Coach Gilberto "Giba" Saraiva
Coach Gilberto “Giba” leads our program with over a decade of Jiu‑Jitsu experience and a black belt under Sebastian Lalli. A decorated competitor with titles including European Silver Medalist, Brazilian National Champion, and Pan American Champion, Giba brings the same passion and discipline from the competition mats to his coaching. For the past six years, he has guided both kids and adults, helping them grow in skill, character, and confidence while building a strong, supportive community through Jiu‑Jitsu.
